EXAMPLE PROJECT

AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY MANUFACTURE

A leading agricultural machinery manufacturer approached Wizards Precision Engineering after experiencing repeated failures in a critical welded assembly used on one of their machines. The component was subjected to high operational loads and vibration, resulting in premature fatigue, increased maintenance requirements and costly downtime for end users.

Our engineering team carried out a detailed assessment of the existing design, reviewing the loading conditions, manufacturing process and material selection. Using CAD modelling and Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles, we developed a redesigned assembly that simplified the overall construction while improving structural performance.

By reducing the number of individual parts and optimising the fabrication process, we were able to eliminate unnecessary welds, improve load distribution and create a more robust component that was easier and faster to manufacture.

The final design reduced the component part count by 35%, increased structural strength and achieved an 18% reduction in manufacturing costs, while improving long-term reliability in demanding agricultural environments.
